Frequently Asked Questions:
(or questions we wish people would ask)
Do I have to go to Portage Alliance to
send my Child to Westpark School?
No. Although you’re welcome to come and
check out Portage Alliance Church,
we think it is a pretty awesome church.
But feel free to
attend any or no church. We don’t specify any faith
background needed for the students for Westpark School
just
openness on the part of the parents and guardians
Will my child need to wear a uniform?
Only if you insist! We’re fine if your
kid comes dressed in a suit and tie but that isn’t
necessary.
Actually we’re also okay if you’re kid comes
dressed with green or purple hair!
All we ask is that kids
come dressed with reasonable clothes.
So unless there is a
spirit day and you’re asked to wear something odd or
different keep the following guidelines in mind;
·
Wear
clothes not pajamas
·
Wear
shoes or sandals (if there is a fire drill you’ll be
awfully cold in the snow with your socks)
·
Clothing that attracts positive attention – so nice
looking clothes with positive messages, nothing
immodest or negative
·
Keep
your hats and toques for outside
How much does it cost to send my child to Westpark School?
The short answer is $2700 per year, but
if you have more than one child we have family pricing
options.
But there are always little costs for field trips
and athletics and so on.
What time
does School start?
8:45 - Doors open at 8:15, it ends at 3:30
and supervision is over at 3:45.
Can my kid bring an ipod or mp3,
video games and Cell phones etc to school?
Yes. BUT. They must be turned off and
in lockers during class. If used inappropriately they will
be confiscated and may be picked up by a parent or guardian
from the office. Laptops can be used for class purposes if
the teacher gives permission. These devices may be used on
field trip only when given permission by the immediate
supervisor. Senior Years students may use their electronic
devices while on spare. Students must be aware of the
nature of the school and submit to the authority of teachers
and other staff if the electronic material being viewed or
listened to is considered inappropriate for the Westpark
context.
